“D-brane” è un’opera che si espande oltre i limiti della materia e scivola nei territori della fisica teorica, evocando le membrane multidimensionali ipotizzate dalla string theory. Con la consueta libertà formale che contraddistingue la produzione di Aurelio Mustacciuoli, questa installazione su tavola si presenta come una spirale organica e allo stesso tempo meccanica, un organismo-costrutto che sembra vivere di tensioni interne, di stratificazioni concettuali e pigmenti esplosivi.
I materiali impiegati — legno, lega metallica, acrilico e spray — dialogano tra loro senza gerarchie, e danno vita a una creatura cangiante, che si muove nello spazio come un pensiero mentre si forma. L’opera è parte integrante della collezione “Il pesce pescato pensa all’acqua finché può”, che già nel titolo suggerisce una riflessione meta-esistenziale: siamo immersi in un contesto che non comprendiamo finché non ne siamo separati. In questo senso “D-brane” diventa una mappa visiva dell’inconscio cosmico, una rete di connessioni fra tempo, materia e consapevolezza.
Il ritmo cromatico – dal rosso al blu, passando per verdi acidi e gialli caldi – accompagna l’occhio in un percorso ipnotico, mentre la struttura ramificata richiama un fossile alieno o una costellazione neuronale. È un’opera che vive sospesa tra il biologico e il cibernetico, tra l’arcaico e il futuribile, in bilico tra caos e forma.
Mustacciuoli si conferma anche qui come artista del pensiero incarnato: l’installazione non si limita a decorare, ma stimola, destabilizza, interroga.

“D-brane” unfolds beyond material limits, reaching into the speculative territory of theoretical physics, evoking the multidimensional membranes proposed in string theory. True to the spirit of Aurelio Mustacciuoli’s expressive freedom, this board installation emerges as a spiraling, quasi-organic and mechanical entity, pulsing with inner tensions, conceptual layering, and a blast of vibrant pigments.
The materials — wood, metal alloy, acrylic, and spray — converse without hierarchy, fusing into a shifting creature that seems to think as it grows. As part of the collection titled “The caught fish thinks about water while it can,” the work reflects on the human condition: we only begin to understand the element we exist in once we are torn from it. “D-brane” thus becomes a visual map of the cosmic unconscious, a lattice of matter, time, and perception.
The chromatic rhythm — transitioning from red to blue through acid greens and warm yellows — draws the eye into a hypnotic journey, while the branching structure resembles either an alien fossil or a neural constellation. It’s a work suspended between the biological and the cybernetic, the ancient and the futuristic, chaos and structure.
Mustacciuoli again asserts himself as an artist of embodied thought. This is not just a piece to be admired — it is one that provokes, disorients, and invites reflection.
