All’interno del percorso espositivo di The Depot, dove minimalismo e materia si incontrano in un dialogo silenzioso ma carico di senso, si impone con umile forza la presenza de Il poeta, scultura in marmo di 59 cm firmata da Efisio Cadoni.

L’opera raffigura una figura maschile seduta, raccolta su sé stessa, le braccia incrociate sulle ginocchia in una posa che ha qualcosa di meditativo, contemplativo, ma anche quotidianamente umano. Non c’è retorica nel gesto: non siamo di fronte a un poeta-eroe, bensì a un poeta-uomo, plasmato nella sua densità fisica, nei suoi abiti scolpiti con cura artigianale, nel volto abbozzato e tuttavia eloquente. La scelta di Cadoni di restare su un piano quasi arcaico nella resa del viso – volutamente primitivo – restituisce la potenza della forma come veicolo universale di emozione.

Il marmo, materiale nobile e antico, è trattato qui non come superficie levigata ma come sostanza viva, porosa, attraversata da venature che sembrano pulsare come pensieri. La scultura si fa corpo e coscienza insieme: è massa, ma anche silenzio. E in questo silenzio risuona, potente, la voce del poeta.

Cadoni prosegue, con quest’opera, la sua personale ricerca su figure periferiche e archetipiche, restituendo con rispetto e lucidità la dignità dell’individuo semplice, pensante, vivo. Il poeta potrebbe essere chiunque: un pescatore, un contadino, un vecchio saggio. Ma è, soprattutto, il riflesso di noi stessi nel momento in cui ci fermiamo a pensare.

Within the exhibition path of The Depot, where minimalism and matter engage in a silent yet meaningful dialogue, The Poet stands with humble strength — a 59 cm marble sculpture signed by Efisio Cadoni.

The work depicts a seated male figure, folded into himself, arms crossed over his knees in a pose that feels meditative, contemplative, and deeply human. There is no rhetoric in the gesture: this is not a poet-hero, but a poet-man, sculpted in his physical density, his carefully carved garments, his roughly outlined yet eloquent face. Cadoni’s choice to remain on an almost archaic plane in the rendering of the face — deliberately primitive — gives form the power to serve as a universal vehicle of emotion.

Marble, that noble and ancient material, is treated not as a polished surface but as a living substance — porous, cut through by veins that seem to pulse like thoughts. The sculpture becomes both body and consciousness: it is mass, but also silence. And in that silence, the voice of the poet resounds — powerfully.

With this work, Cadoni continues his personal exploration of peripheral and archetypal figures, returning, with clarity and respect, the dignity of the simple, thinking, living individual. The Poet could be anyone: a fisherman, a farmer, a wise elder. But above all, he is a mirror — the reflection of ourselves in the moment we pause to think.
